I lost my beloved camera in Hong Kong, together with my memory card which means? ----> Over 800 pictures all gone & you know what is the most amazing thing? I. DID. NOT. BACK. UP . THOSE. PICTURES. Hell yeah.

Many restaurant food pics, memory pics all gone....... Whatever. You live & you learn, shall not complain anymore after this. *Tears*

Moral of this short story - always backup your digital pictures, laptop & whatever that can be backup. If not, you'll end up like me... a girl with SEVERE heart pain.

Anyways back to food post, One of the restaurants I tried in Hong Kong this time round is A m b e r at Landmark Oriental. Their weekend lunch is highly recommended! Every dish served was up to standard, pleasantly surprised.

Lobster & truffle chawanmushi. The only dish that I really love. I love the texture of the eggs, super smooth and moist.

Now, move on to the main course. First you choose what kind of beef you want then the cooking style. (shabu shabu, sukiyaki, Teppanyaki, or charcoal grilled.)

The overall dining experience was just okay, personally I don't like the beef they served there, the steak I had was thinly sliced and didn't have a strong beefy flavor that I like + crazy prices. ( minimum $250 and up per person. ) I much prefer their appetizers & small bites. I would suggest somewhere else if you want to eat good beef. Superb service though.

Perfect crispy warm bread.

Warm Foie Gras jelly with truffles coulis.

Our main course, the left side of the dish is the chicken breast imported all the way from France. Best chicken breast I've ever tasted in my life, No exaggeration.

Restaurant Andre is a must try in Singapore. Reservation is a must too. Didn't manage to catch all the names of the dishes from the waiter as it is a fixed 5 course lunch with no menu.

American Wagyu Kobe style Rib eye beef. Slight Crispy on the outside & Juicy inside, with intense beefy flavor. Just the way I like it. :D

Chocolate Souffle, House recommendation.

Out of the three steakhouses I've tried in Singapore, ( Morton's, Cut & Lawry's ) Cut gets my vote hands down. Having dinner at Cut reminded me a lot like having steak in L.A with the contemporary menu & its modern classic decor. Premium meat does come with a very premium price indeed. The only complaint was the very cold bread.

2 good finds at Liang court, Singapore! Mazazu crepe is a must whenever I'm doing my grocery there. Whether you want it with fruits & gelato, mochi with red bean or ham with cheese... They have it all. If you have a thing for Japanese crepe, try this one!

XX's choice. Fresh cream with strawberry & brownies.

Mine is chicken with mayo.

Shabu No Koya - very reasonable prices & I like their dipping sauces.

They do have different types of soup base but I chose the plain water one.(original) Nothing fancy but they do serve Wagyu beef as well in the menu. Rating : 7.5 / 10.

DA creamy creamed corn post.

I have been hopping around, trying out new steakhouse restaurants in Singapore & the one thing that bugs me bad - No good steakhouse restaurant serves creamed corn here?!?! why oh why?

In my opinion, A good succulent juicy steak & creamy creamed corn are like husband & wife, you can't separate them, you just CAN'T!

The only restaurant that I came across in Singapore that serves creamed corn is Lawry's, but sadly, not a fan of their prime rib. The best steakhouse & creamed corn I've ever tried is Mastro's in Beverly hills, Los Angeles. Their creamed corn should be known as "Heavenly creamed corn" so, so good.

Anyway here is a recipe that I've found online that I want to share with you guys. I tried it and it turned out really delicious. Super easy to make too.

Add some cheese.

Gulliver's Creamed Corn

1 pound of frozen corn

12 ounces whipping cream

1 ½ Tablespoons of butter

1 ½ Tablespoons of flour

1 ½ teaspoons of salt

2 Tablespoons of sugar

½ teaspoon of "Accent" flavor enhancer ( I did not use this for mine )

3 Tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese

Put the frozen corn in the cream, over a low heat and bring to a boil. Separate the corn from the cream and return the cream to heat. Make a paste with the butter and flour, and slowly add the cream to the rue, to simmer and thicken. Simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring constantly, and then add the seasoning ingredients. Return the corn to this mixture and stirring constantly still bring it back to a boil over a low heat. Stir in the Parmesan cheese and ready to serve!

Bacon and creamed corn are like brother and sister. You can't separate them too. (at least in my dictionary they are.)

I swear, by just sprinkling some crispy bacon bits onto the creamed corn then put them right into your mouth. OH LORD. HALLELUJAH! crispy & creamy..... now that's a good comfort dish right there!

Long gone were the days when I fell head over heels for Balenciaga handbags, I have moved on.... to their small goods and accessories! Now can someone please tell me why do they make such freaking adorable accessories & small goods?? From the gorgeous colors to those perfect distressed leather, it is really hard for me to resist getting them home.

So, without further ado, Let's meet some of my small suckers!

I have been a faithful user of their wallets for over 4 years now? The first Balenciaga wallet I purchased was a deep rouge classic one, then the black Arena Giant money & now the Arena Giant Compagnon in Bleu Lavande. LOVE IT! Very versatile with many cards slots attached & 3 open compartments, able to store quite a lot for a wallet. The one besides is an Ipad case.

The laptop case :D you can actually use it to store documents as well, or act as a large clutch. COOLNESS.

Envelope clutch in Sanguine, it comes with a removable strap. I actually prefer this over the envelope clutch because you don't have to hold the bag all the time.

The keychain- Anyone knows where can I get more of this mini sucker?? Balenciaga in Singapore doesn't carry them. Guess I'll have to try my luck in Hong Kong.

This Arena trolley is on my wish-list... still contemplating whether to get it or not because of the crazy price & most likely mine will get lots of wear & tear within the first trip out haha.

Yo It's Japanese BBQ time! I've been doing research some time ago on Japanese BBQ in Singapore. Both ( Aburiya & Yakiniku Yazawa ) have been rated "DA BEST" in Singapore by many websites so ideally, what's a girl got to do but to try out both places and compare? :D :D

First stop ABURIYA!

First of all, I have to apologize for the lack of pictures for this restaurant because I was so hungry that evening, busy gobbling down whatever they served.

Wagyu Jo Karubi Shio - A MUST TRY!!!!

We ordered a great tasting salad and a side dish too. ( The salad is their most popular salad, I forgot the name, it has crispy garlic in it. ) A MUST TRY AS WELL.

Wagyu rib eye in cubes. Don't know about you but I dislike meat that comes in small cubes... but it was their popular dish so I gave it a try. It was surprisingly good. A good try.

Hire Foie Gras Steak. I ordered this one because I find it quite unique. Basically you are supposed to cook everything together in the foil box. I didn't like it. The meat texture was bad. Foie gras so so.

Red bean corn flakes green tea ice cream! You can't go wrong with this.

Overall, I'll visit Aburiya again, the place has a chill-out atmosphere, It is not very pricey too. Average $65+ per person. For the price you get good tasting beef + they do serve a great variety of small appetizers.

NEXT STOP: YAKINIKU YAZAWA.

If you want nothing but the best quality of A5 Wagyu beef, no "creative" appetizers or desserts, just plain super fabulous beefy beef & fatty porky pork then please do yourself a favor by visiting this place below.

I don't eat beef tongue, my friend ordered this... I think she likes it. :)

I'm a super HUGE fan of beef, Grade A5 Japanese Wagyu beef to be precise & Yakiniku Yazawa offers just that. The place is more of a sophisticated bbq place with excellent service. The price is no doubt higher than Aburiya. Minimum $100 plus per person.

So happy to have found these two new lovers. Also, reservations are highly recommended for these two restaurants. Always full house.

I ended up walking into Aoki restaurant one rainy afternoon, partly because of the heavy rain, another reason was because I was so hungry & had nowhere to go while waiting for my not very punctual friend Albert, for lunch. Well, I AM GLAD I DID & I am going to tell you exactly why.

Albert arrived 15 minutes later & we quickly ordered.

My sushi set. Honestly, just So-So. It was nothing wow, Just very traditional sushi + roll.

SO GOOD, PERFECTO! Juicy, succulent & the meat actually melts in your mouth.

On the down side, the price is a little steep though. $73 with truffles or $55 without for that one bowl. In my opinion, it tastes just as good without the truffles because the Wagyu beef up there.... IS LOVE.

I was supposed to blog about this weeks ago but I got lazy, don't like cleaning my big pile of cosmetics & I don't really organize them as well. However, to prevent my blog from fast becoming a food's blog... I guess I have to try something new!

I love cosmetics and I love trying out new products, I would spend countless hours at Watson / CVS pharmacy (GOD I LOVE THOSE PLACES ) searching, browsing through every cosmetic product they have.... and bring home most of them. As for the big department cosmetic counters, I tend to have a love-hate relationship with them. Don't make me spot those "Limited edition" kinda special palettes, I'll go weak and then bring those suckers home with me too. >_<

Below are pictures of some of my favorite cosmetics which I use the most often and in my opinion - The best.

I love eyeshadows the most, usually I'll get them in the palette kind with 4 different colors as it is much easier to put on, you don't have to search for different colors to mix and match. I'll only get the single color eyeshadow from Shu Uemura as it always has a wide range of unique, daring colors to choose from. (The rest of the single eye color you see above are stolen goods... from my mum :D)

My latest buy- Naked palette by Urban Decay. Super gorgeous neutrals shades! It comes with the matte & the glittery kind of textures. Very suitable for brown/dark eyed gals.

Laura Mercier's. A compact palette filled with lipgloss and eyeshadows.

Benefit has the cutest make up kit ever!!!! I love that they have mascara, eyeshadow, blusher, highlighter and mini lipstick all in 1 kit. I usually bring these out for traveling. No fuss No muss.

Out of all the loose powders that I've tried, La Mer & Chanel's are my favorite. Very light and sheer.

Not a fan of liquid foundation, way too cakey. I usually just use concealer + loose powder. Revlon and M.A.C have great concealers if you like the creamy kind. NEVER leave home without the YSL touche eclat. It is great for touch ups and a superb highlighter.

The best mascara ever goes to Lancome Hypnose, second is bad gal lash by Benefit & Maybelline volume express is third best!

The absolute best liquid eyeliner comes from Japan. Enough said. You can get it at any Watson store. Thin and precise. LOVES. If you like using thick eyeliner for nights out, STILA waterproof eyeliner is a really good choice.

The best of the best of the best. THE "BESTEST" blusher in the history of all womankind. It is actually a tinted stain, not your usual brush on blusher. Night out - Benetint. Day out - Posietint. I've been using it for almost 4 years now. It is also one of the best selling cheek stain in the U.S cosmetic industry.

I left my lipstick make up bag in H.K so no pics... For lipstick wise, M.A.C and Maybelline are my favorite brands. Not too glossy or too matte. Chanel, Dior, Stila and Lancome have the best lip-glosses.

I love Halloween... but it is pretty apparent that Heidi Klum takes Halloween event much more seriously than normal human beings. She is my most sought after celebrity when it comes to Halloween costume because she just doesn't disappoint!

Mamacita's restaurant Guide 2

The last time I dined at Iggy's was around 2 years back, when I was in Singapore during my summer break. The world's 50 best restaurants I was told.... so of course, I had high expectations. I can't really remember what was my favorite dish out of the dinner menu since it was so long ago, but then it can also mean one thing - It was simply not that memorable.

This time around I've decided to try their lunch menu and overall I really like it, I like the simple outlook of the new restaurant decor, nothing over the top fancy and the food was yummy, great service too. ( However, I still prefer JAAN's lunch menu though.)

Foie Gras with figs, sudachi and candy.

Alba white truffles linguine

I really like this one! It' suckling pig. You can never go wrong with suckling pig :D Crispy and Juicy.

Salmon with watercress

Known as "Popcorn", I really would like to say something good about this one but no, It was rather disappointing.

Guinness - Salted peanuts ,caramel and marshmallow. Perfect combination.

Anyone plan on trying the restaurant "Sky on 57" located at MBS? I highly suggest you NOT to. Major disappointment.

I asked for a medium well steak and it's fully, over cooked.

Sakura chicken rice. 5/10

So, obviously we order no dessert. The only good thing I can say about my experience there is the great view.

Nowadays we have Blackberry , the Iphone, digital cameras and even our laptops have the ability to capture pictures in the fastest way possible. It is a great thing but to what extent? With the advent of the internet, People tend to store pictures in their modern digital gadgets or an online album, without realizing the beauty of having them in PRINTS / PHOTOGRAPHS.

Hardly anyone I know nowadays talk about buying a photo album or a photo frame. It is more like...

"Hey, lets take a picture."

"Looks great, let's post on Facebook!"

It triggers some nostalgic moments for me. We rely so heavily on our electronics and certainly it has it's pros but for me, I love having my pictures printed out and framed. Whenever I want to see my loves, it is just right there, in my living room or bedroom. No browsing through SD/memory cards, just take out the album of your choice, lie on your bed... and reminisce over the good times.

Trust me, there is something special about a photo frame which you can actually hold and share with people. The feeling of holding a real life photograph than just looking it on your computer screen is different, more heartfelt I supposed?

We live in a world where change is inevitable and continuous, but that does not mean we can't preserve the old memories, the old fashioned way.
